Eastern Volunteers transport delivers services to people under 65 years of age with a disability and anyone over 65 years of age who lives in the Whitehorse, Maroondah or Yarra Ranges local government areas.

We happily provide transport subsidised or unsubsidised across metropolitan Melbourne. Would you like to visit family? or play a round of golf with friends? Do you want to go shopping or to the movies? We provide transport for more than just your health needs.

Our drivers are trained and supervised volunteers who will ensure that you reach your destination safely, on time and can escort you door to door. We support you in your transport.

If you are over 65 yrs of age and require transport you will need to register with My Aged Care. You need to request Eastern Volunteers specifically and not another provider. We are not restricted to providing transport within local government boundaries. We offer you greater flexibility transporting you to where you want to go across metropolitan Melbourne.

If you are already registered with My Aged Care and have not been referred before for community transport then you can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 give them your client number or name and request a referral to Eastern Volunteers Community Transport.

If you have used Eastern Volunteers transport before but not in the past 12 months you will need to go through My Aged Care to request the service again. We are only allowed to take referrals this way now.

Here is everything you need to know about our community transport service. This booklet is provided to you when you first join the program. We will send you updates if any information changes.

If You Are On A Home Care Package:

Eastern Volunteers provides transport for clients receiving a Home Care Package. To access transport under a home care package:

  • Confirm with your provider that you have funds allocated for transport
  • Advise your Home Care package provider that you nominate Eastern volunteers as your preferred transport provider.
  • Contact Eastern Volunteers to discuss your transport needs and provide your Home care package providers billing information.
  • Eastern Volunteers will create a care plan in line with your needs and goals, we will discuss our service offering and post you our service booklet and fee structure on commencement of the service.

No funds included in your package for transport? Not a problem

You can enter a private arrangement with Eastern Volunteers and pay for transport outside of your Home Care Package.

Under 65 yrs of age and have a disability

We are funded by the Victorian Government to provide services for younger people with disabilities whose capacity for independent living is at risk and their carers. We can also provide subsidised transport if you have mental health issues, suffer significant financial disadvantage or isolation and cannot access the services you need.

If you have an NDIS package we can provide you with transport but please contact us to discuss your specific need.

If you would like transport then call us directly on 03 9870 7822 and ask to speak to one of our transport team who will happily take your referral. You can also complete the referral form below and email it to us at transportoperations@easternvolunteers.org.au.

Eastern Volunteers is funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Program [CHSP] to provide a range of larger vehicles for the use of CHSP funded agencies and community groups providing service to the people aged over 65 yrs in the Outer Eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne.

Agencies providing services to people under 65 with disabilities are also eligible for this service.

The buses can be rented privately at full cost for organisations that do not fit the above descriptions.

The Eastern Transport Register (ETR) primarily supports Home and Community Care (HACC) funded organisations by providing specialised vehicles with wheel chair access, hoists, special steps etc. for hire.

Prior to completing an application form for membership it is recommended that you discuss your organisations requirements with the ETR Co-ordinator.

The process involves completing the application form for membership and agreeing to comply with the ETR User Agreement which you should read prior to completing the membership form. Other information that is required includes:

  • provide a completed form for each driver that you authorise with their license number, phone number etc.
  • provide the name of a “booking officer”, i.e. the person you nominate to complete bookings of vehicles on the online system.
  • provide details for emailing invoices: for example your accounts receivable officer.

The membership application is completed annually. Only approved member organisations can access the ETR. Membership fees are pro-rata from the 1st July each year. All new applications should be discussed with the ETR Co-ordinator prior to completing this form.Effective 1 February 2017.

Organisations need to provide a completed Driver Registration Form for each driver they authorise to drive an ETR vehicle on their behalf. This form is signed by both the member organisation and the driver. If you are adding new drivers to your register please ensure this form is returned to the ETR Co-ordinator. Effective 1 February 2017

ETR Community Service Organisation Driver Annual Register
On membership renewal organisations are required to provide a confirmation of any previously registered drivers that they wish to continue endorsing to drive an ETR vehicle in the coming year. The form includes information for updating driver phone numbers and email addresses in case emergency contact is required. Note your Booking Officer can also update driver details in the Booking Database.Effective 1 February 2017

This form provides contact details of member organisation accounts department personnel for invoicing purposes. As invoices are emailed to organisations ETR should be notified of any changes to facilitate invoicing to your organisation. Effective 1 February 2017

Download ETR Vehicle Insurance Product Disclosure Statement
Member organisations are required to comply with the terms of Eastern Volunteers insurance policy for ETR vehicles. This vehicle insurance policy provides comprehensive insurance for users of the vehicles. Members of ETR will be liable for any excess fees and damage not covered under the insurance policy.Current at May 2015.

Only members of ETR are able to check vehicle availability and book vehicles. Once membership has been processed, the Booking Officer nominated on the application form will be emailed a username and password to access this booking system.

Eastern Transport Register

The Eastern Transport Register facilitates access to flexible group transport with the provision of special needs vehicles available for hire.

Vehicles may be hired by community groups or individuals with specialised transport needs.

In order to access vehicles, groups are required to become members of the ETR. Or a non-member option is also available for other groups and businesses.

The first point of contact for new users is Eastern Volunteers on 9870 7822 or etr@easternvolunteers.org.au.

Vehicle bookings can be made online and are collected and returned to the ETR Garage at Factory 8, 36-40 New St, Ringwood. These are arranged through the ETR Co-ordinator

on 0438 987 078.

Garage Operating Hours
Generally vehicles can be collected and returned as follows:

Morning 8.30am – 10.30am
Afternoon 3.00pm – 5.00pm
